The early 1960s was the watershed moment for drag performance in Sydney. Trevor Parkin, David (Beatrice) Williams, Ivy Richter, Judy Burnett, Rae Morris, Carolyn Bloye and Katy O’Rourke share their memories of venues such as the Purple Onion in Kensington, Chez Ivy’s in Bondi Junction, The Trolley Car, Kandy’s Garden of Eden in Enmore and Ivy’s Birdcage at Taylor Square. Other significant venues included The Jewel Box and Les Girls in King Cross.
