Grant, Douglas

Douglas Grant

Douglas Grant grew up in Melbourne and in the mid-1960s moved to Sydney for an engineering job with the ABC. His entry into the gay scene began in Sydney through socialising with colleagues. Douglas talks about his time working in Asia in the 1970s and the friendships he encountered there, and relationships he developed on his return to Sydney. He met his long-term partner through an ad in the Star Observer in 1998, and they have been together ever since. Douglas also recalls the HIV/AIDS crisis and its impact on the gay community, and his thoughts on marriage equality.
