Rowe, Kate

Kate Rowe (1951-)

Kate Rowe is a proud original 78er of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Born in the east end of London, UK, Kate Rowe migrated to Australia in the 1970s to escape the sexual, drug and alcohol abuse that plagued her teenage years. Her political awakening is credited to being arrested at the first Mardi Gras march in 1978. In 1994, Kate attended her first Gay Games in New York, US, and remains a volunteer and sports activist.
