Graham Chuck (1956-)

Graham Chuck grew up in Wollongong surrounded by his unionist, labor voting, working-class, militant anti-war family. He studied optometry at UNSW, Sydney, where he began getting involved in clubs and societies, like the Gay Society at uni and Socialist Homosexuals at CAMP in Glebe. In this oral history, Graham talks about his time with the Gay Solidarity Group and the organising of the first Mardi Gras. He goes on to recall events on the day of the first Mardi Gras, the arrests and their consequences.
