Baker, John

Portrait of John Baker

John Baker (1950-)

John Baker grew up in northern NSW. At 15, John moved to Port Kembla to take up an apprenticeship as an electrician. John joined the Presbyterian Church, where he formed a Church Fellowship. But on meeting Larry (later Loretta of Les Girls) he soon got to know the local beats and left the church. Moving to Sydney and working in publishing, John got involved with William and they soon began publishing the magazine 'William and John'. In this interview, John recalls the highs and lows of publishing a camp magazine full of male nudes.
